Happy Valentine's Day!!
Did you know
--
Legend tells us that Valentine's Day commemorates St. Valentine,
a priest of Rome in the third century. The Emperor Claudius had
outlawed marriage because he thought it would better serve his army
to have single young men that weren't cumbered with family ties.
Valentine (valens is Latin for worthy) rebelled against Claudius'
order and performed marriages in secret. He was arrested and
beheaded on February 14th, 269 AD, for his defiance.
Valentine thought it so important to honor love and marriage that
he was willing to die for it. God thought so as well. John 3:16 says
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life." God loved people so much He was willing to become
a man and give His life so we could be with Him in eternity. A
forever love, the ultimate love story.
God wants YOU
to be His Valentine. He proves it everyday of the year in ways we
don't notice. He gives us beautiful sunsets, flowers, and rainbows.
He whispers sweet "somethings" in our ears, especially during hard
and lonely times. He comes to dwell in us when we accept that
ultimate sacrifice of His Son. He promises to never leave us or
forsake us. What better Valentine can you have than God himself?
This Valentine's Day, I urge you to ask Jesus into your life and
start an awesome, dynamic relationship with Him. It will be the best
Valentine's Day gift you could ever receive.
Do you already know Jesus as Saviour? Then commit yourself to
knowing Him better. Delve into His Word and see just how
breathtaking He is. There is never a dull moment with Jesus when you
let Him take control of your life.
