As the heat
index rose, the drops of sweat dripping down the
musicians faces were more than just from the
heat. The crowning of the first ever the One 2
Beat ultimate bandoff champion came down to just
a few points. Terra Nova was crowned as
the first ever the One 2 Beat champion of the
ultimate bandoff held at Blue Springs Baptist
Temple,
Blue Springs
Baptist Temple hosted the first ever bandoff
event, Saturday, August 4. The event provided an
outlet for teen bands to showcase their talents
through this battle of the bands. Two bands
battled for this title. Terra Nova, a
teen alternative rock band started the evening
with a couple of original songs. They rocked the
stage and the ground. Bethany, a
Christian band came to the stage strong and
ready to battle as Terra Nova looked on.
The noise erupted from the audience as both
bands exited the stage, leaving the judges with
a tough task ahead of them. The audience was
split - both bands won the audience vote.
With a slight
point difference, Terra Nova was crowned
as the One 2 Beat. This three piece band was
awarded the grand prize which included eight
hours of studio recording time from Chapman
Recording as well as a album photo shoot and
cover design provided by JL Portraits & Fine
Art. The runner up received $100 cash.
The evening's
events also included some stellar Karaoke
singing by audience members. The purpose of this
event was to allow teens an outlet to play their
music, their way - regardless of what type. The
entire event was completely blessed by God and
would not have taken place without the prayers
of many in attendance. A very special thank you
goes out to all who in attendance to support
these bands.
